Gunnar Optiks is certainly no stranger to working alongside other gaming companies to create custom gaming glasses based on their brands. We’ve already seen them take one go-around with CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 with the best-selling Dex glasses. But now they’re back for more, this time with the more stylish Militech models.

The glasses have a number of features, and are available in both light and dark lenses, depending on your gaming mood. But both include the following:

  • High-wrap tactical shield design with premium engineered polymer frame material
  • GUNNAR patented lens technology
  • G-Shield Plus lens coating: anti-reflective & smudge-resistant
  • Blocks harmful blue light and 100% UV
  • Officially licensed CD Projekt Red® Cyberpunk 2077

Right out of the box, you get a pretty good package here. The Militech glasses come with a themed microfiber cleaning cloth, as well as a microfiber pouch to put them in when they’re not in use. What’s more, there’s a really cool metal case that stores your glasses, so they’re well-protected. We didn’t have any explosives to test them out (they’re too expensive!), but rest assured that the Militech glasses will be safe when not in use.

Upon trying out the glasses for the first time, we noticed the nice contour they have around the face. Like the Dex models, they wrap around your face comfortably, so your field of view is covered entirely by the lenses. In this case, we got the light amber lenses, and it was fairly easy to use them for both computer use and gaming. We got into a round of Cyberpunk 2077 over on Switch 2 to see how they fare, and they didn’t disappoint.

That said, the build is a bit quirky. Unlike the Dex glasses, there’s a big black nosepiece in the center of everything. It doesn’t get in the way of view, it just comes across as…a bit weird. Like it stands out from the design of the rest of the glasses. But it’s there to hold the nosepiece in play, so that the glasses aren’t too tight on your face. So, certainly not a deal breaker considering what they’re there for.

The rest of the glass design is excellent. The side frames have the cool Cyberpunk branding, and the glasses are quite comfortable once you slip them onto your face. You may need to adjust your field of view at first, but that’s true for any glasses these days.

As for long-term play, the lenses help you see whatever screen you’re looking at with less eye strain. The amber tint actually plays a good part in this, utilizing the G-Shield tech that Gunnar uses so that it’s a little easier on the eyes. Not to mention blue-light blocking, which is convenient.

The only real downside here is the lack of prescription models. You can get the sunglasses edition with the darker lenses, making them ideal for outdoor use. But if you want prescription lenses, sadly, you’ll have to go with another pair.

But I digress. For $99, you get some tremendous value here. The glasses are sleekly designed and, more importantly, useful for your gaming and computer sessions. The branding is there for you Cyberpunk fans, and the extras, including the metal case, are superb. You really get some value here, making you feel like Johnny Silverhand. (Well, you’ll need to grow out the hair, mind you.)

So if you’re a fan of Cyberpunk, put these on your Xmas list. You won’t be sorry.

Thanks to Gunnar Optiks for providing a pair for review!
