Microsoft is making another push to improve the Xbox experience across PC and cloud gaming, announcing a series of updates designed to make its services faster, easier to navigate, and more consistent across different devices. The biggest change is coming to the Xbox PC app, which is receiving performance improvements that could make launching the application and navigating its various features considerably quicker.

Starting November 5, Xbox Insiders can try an updated version of the PC app that Microsoft says launches up to 60% faster. The improvements also extend to individual sections, with pages such as Home, Store, and Game Pass loading up to 50% faster, while in-app windows can open up to 65% faster. These figures are based on Microsoft’s internal testing, so actual results will vary depending on hardware, system configuration, and other factors.

Performance is not the only area receiving attention. Microsoft is also making changes to the app’s library, introducing simpler navigation, updated filters, and additional organization options to help players find games more easily. Social features are being brought into the main navigation, making it easier to check what friends are playing, start conversations, and join parties without having to navigate through separate sections.

Search is also being improved, with players able to find games, installed titles, add-ons, and other content, including people, from a single location. Combined with refreshed game cards, menus, settings, and animations, the changes are intended to make the Xbox PC app feel less cumbersome during everyday use.

PC players are not the only ones benefiting from Microsoft’s latest announcement, as the refreshed Xbox web experience is also expanding to more users. Previously available as a preview for Xbox Insiders, the updated cloud gaming interface will automatically begin reaching additional players over the coming weeks. Those interested in trying it earlier can visit play.xbox.com.

Among the additions is a new Library tab that brings together cloud-playable games, including titles players own and those available through Xbox Game Pass. The library can be sorted and filtered by recently played games, genres, supported input methods, and other categories. Desktop mode also makes better use of larger displays, allowing players to browse more content without feeling restricted by the interface.

Microsoft is introducing additional personalization options as well, including light and dark themes alongside five new high-contrast settings designed to accommodate different visual preferences and accessibility needs.

The refreshed experience is also beginning to make its way to Xbox cloud gaming applications on supported televisions and VR headsets. Microsoft wants players to encounter a more familiar interface regardless of whether they are gaming on a PC, television, or virtual reality device, with consistent navigation and easier access to their available games.

These changes represent another step in Microsoft’s broader effort to make Xbox a more unified gaming experience rather than something tied to a single console. With PC gaming, browser-based cloud streaming, televisions, and VR headsets all becoming increasingly important parts of its ecosystem, improving the experience across these platforms is an important part of that strategy.

The updated PC app is currently available to Xbox Insiders, while the refreshed web experience will expand to more players over the coming weeks. Microsoft says it will continue using player feedback to guide further improvements.
