Nintendo Switch 2 is getting another interesting accessory for players who prefer their games with a little more arcade flair. Hori has announced the Arcade Classic Pro, a modular arcade stick that gives players several different ways to configure its controls.
The biggest feature here is the ability to swap out the controller’s modules depending on what you’re playing. The Arcade Classic Pro supports four different control options, including a traditional arcade stick, trackball, paddle, and loop lever. That gives the controller considerably more flexibility than the typical arcade stick, particularly for players who enjoy a variety of fighting games, shooters, and classic arcade experiences.
The loop lever is an especially interesting addition, combining the familiar functionality of an arcade stick with the ability to rotate the lever itself. Meanwhile, the trackball and paddle should make the controller better suited to games that originally relied on those kinds of specialized arcade controls.
Hori is also advertising the Arcade Classic Pro alongside Nintendo’s Arcade Archives lineup, where the different control configurations could come in handy for recreating the feel of older arcade machines. However, the controller is not limited to those games, with Hori also highlighting its suitability for fighting games and other arcade-style titles.
The Arcade Classic Pro is a substantial piece of hardware, measuring approximately 50cm wide, 29cm deep, and 11cm tall, while weighing around 2kg without a control module. It connects to Nintendo Switch 2 via USB Type-A and comes with a roughly three-metre cable, making it much more of a dedicated home arcade setup than a portable accessory.
Hori currently has the Arcade Classic Pro listed for ¥39,980 in Japan, which puts it at roughly $258 USD before taxes, regional pricing, or import costs. A Western release and pricing have yet to be confirmed.
It is certainly going to be a niche accessory at that price, but the modular design makes Hori’s latest arcade stick considerably more interesting than another controller aimed at a single type of game. Being able to change the controls depending on what you’re playing could make the Arcade Classic Pro a particularly appealing option for Nintendo Switch 2 owners who regularly jump between fighting games, shooters, and classic arcade titles.
