Cygames has opened pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, with the Legendary Edition set to launch on September 17 for $49.99. Developed by Arc System Works, the new version will introduce an exclusive Gyro Versus mode alongside new gameplay features arriving with the Version 2.60 update.

The Legendary Edition is designed as a complete package for newcomers and returning players, including the base game, both Deluxe Character Passes and the additional character set for Id. This brings the total roster to 40 playable characters while also including a selection of previously released cosmetics, weapon skins, premium avatars and the Canaan Shrine stage.

Players who pre-order or purchase the Legendary Edition early will also receive the Reverent Attire costume for Sandalphon. The costume can be used in battle or displayed in Figure Studio and will be available as a separate purchase after the bonus period ends on January 12, 2027, at 6:59 a.m. PT.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version also adds Gyro Versus, a new mode that uses the motion controls of the Joy-Con and Joy-Con 2 to let players perform combos and abilities by shaking their controllers. The mode is designed to give players of all skill levels a different way to experience battles and will be available exclusively in Versus Mode on Nintendo Switch 2.

The Version 2.60 update will also introduce two new system mechanics across the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam versions. Chain Attack gives players additional opportunities to extend their combos, while Super Ultimate+ introduces a special control scheme that allows players to unleash significantly more powerful versions of the game’s characters.

Nintendo Switch 2 players will also be able to battle locally through the system’s Local Communication functionality without requiring an internet connection. Online features will continue to support cross-play, allowing players to compete in Ranked and Casual matches against users on other platforms, as well as take part in the party games of Grand Bruise!

Cygames has also detailed bonuses tied to save-data linking between Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok. Players who have save data from both games on the same platform can unlock a variety of rewards in GBVSR, including the Premium Sword weapon skin for Id, two additional Id colour variants, Lyria and Id lobby avatars, special card designs, the “I’ve Been an Id Main Since Day 1” trophy and Id’s system voice.

Additional bonuses will also be available in Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok for players who link their GBVSR save data. Both games must be played on the same platform to receive the rewards, and some platforms may require cloud-based save data to be downloaded before the bonuses become available.

The Legendary Edition is also planned for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam, while the Version 2.60 content will be available to existing Standard and Deluxe Edition owners on those platforms. Id will also be available separately on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Steam.

Alongside the new game release, Cygames is preparing new Id-themed merchandise, including an acrylic stand, keychain and a Sandalphon acrylic stand featuring his Reverent Attire. Additional Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising merchandise will also return for pre-order through CyStore, with orders running from September 17 through October 18 at 11 p.m. PT.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. The fighting game combines traditional fighting game mechanics with simplified inputs, making its combat more accessible to newcomers while retaining deeper systems for experienced players. Alongside its competitive battles, the game features a full-length story mode and a variety of party games.
