Not every monster needs to be frightening, and Fangtopia is ready to prove it. The cozy tile-based puzzle game from developer Absolutely Games and publisher Secret Mode is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, inviting players to build their own spooky kingdoms populated by friendly monsters, mysterious landmarks, and sprawling landscapes.
Fangtopia challenges players to construct a kingdom using a limited stack of hexagonal tiles, combining fields, forests, mountains, villages, rivers, and railroads to create increasingly elaborate worlds. Reaching score milestones unlocks unique landmarks with objectives of their own, rewarding players with additional tiles to expand their creations. Monsters can also be summoned through mysterious portals, with suitable homes helping boost scores even further.
Players can choose between three distinct modes depending on how they want to approach the puzzle-building experience. The standard Fangtopia mode offers a relaxed introduction to its tile-placement mechanics, while Ghoulish mode adds more tiles and complexity for those looking for a greater challenge. Island mode takes a different approach, letting players peacefully construct enormous railroad networks.
There is also a Stickerbook for keeping track of discovered monsters and landmarks, giving players a closer look at the pieces they have unlocked along the way. Those interested in pushing their scores further can compete on the leaderboards, while anyone looking for a more leisurely experience can focus on creating a charming, monster-filled world at their own pace.
Fangtopia is available now for $12.99 USD, £9.99 GBP, or €12.99 EUR on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove, as well as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The developers also have additional content planned for later this year and beyond, suggesting there will be more reasons to return to this peculiar little kingdom after launch.
The PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions received funding from the UK Government.
