Tombwater, the Wild West-inspired Soulslike action RPG from indie developers Max Mraz and Jake Wagner of Moth Atlas, has received a new update that adds a long-requested class respec feature, a challenging new boss, and support for six additional languages. Publisher Midwest Games is also celebrating the update with the game’s largest discount to date, bringing its price down to $14.99 during Steam Scream Fest.
The new respec feature lets players switch between all seven classes and reallocate their base stats without starting a new game, making it easier to experiment with different builds and combat strategies. To change classes, players must visit the saloon at Vauxhall Mining Camp and share a drink with Drinks Johnson, provided they have at least one Whiskey Bottle to exchange.
Each class offers a distinct approach to combat, ranging from the Soldier’s durable melee fighting and the Gunslinger’s ranged attacks to the Occultist’s hexes and the Tinkerer’s traps, explosives, and crafted items. Players can also choose the hybrid Spellblade, the mobile Drifter, or the challenging Nameless class. The update additionally allows players to reallocate HP, MP, and Stamina, although starting equipment remains tied to the character’s original class.
The update also introduces the Lanternkeeper, a new boss found in the Casket Workshop in the North Graveyard. Reaching the encounter requires players to navigate the workshop and use Wraith Shot to light ten candles. Those who defeat the Lanternkeeper will earn the Ghostlamp Blade, a new weapon that builds up both Burn and Cold status effects on enemies.
Previously available only in English, Tombwater now also supports Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish.
Set in a decaying frontier town overrun by eldritch horrors, Tombwater follows a lone gunslinger searching for a long-lost friend while struggling to preserve their sanity. Drawing inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, Bloodborne, and Hollow Knight, the game combines challenging combat, interconnected exploration, and grotesque boss encounters with a supernatural Western setting.
Tombwater is available on Windows PC via Steam for $24.99, but players can purchase it for $14.99, a 40% discount, through November 2 as part of Steam Scream Fest, which marks the game’s largest discount so far.
