Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games have announced that Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 14, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after.
Alongside the release date announcement, the developers have released a brand-new trailer showcasing the first footage of the game’s main antagonist, Vashtorr, the daemonic demigod of inventors, engineers, scientists, and artisans.
The trailer also offers a first listen to an original musical track created for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 by guest composer Mick Gordon, who previously worked on DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal, and Wolfenstein: The New Order.
In Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath travel to an isolated star system after reports of increased Chaos activity. Their investigation quickly puts them face-to-face with Vashtorr the Arkifane.
Vashtorr awakens a massive daemonic machine buried at the centre of the planet, triggering a catastrophic explosion that destroys much of the Imperial fleet. With the demigod’s corruption spreading from world to world, Malum and Nyra must cleanse the corruption powering his daemonic machinations and attempt to banish Vashtorr back to the Warp.
The sequel continues directly from the events of the original Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, retaining its fast-paced retro-inspired first-person shooter combat while expanding the arsenal and variety of enemies.
Players will face returning enemies including Chaos Cultists and Nurglings, alongside new threats such as Bloodletters and their deadly Juggernauts. The developers promise even greater horrors as Malum and Nyra continue their fight through the Emperor’s endless war.
