Moravian Games and publisher Indieformer have announced that Feed the Scorchpot, a tabletop-inspired roguelike about building ridiculous combos to prepare meals for a demanding dragon, is now available on PC via Steam.
In Feed the Scorchpot, players must survive a twenty-year pact with a dragon in exchange for its protection. Each year, they will need to prepare and serve dinner for their fiery patron, with failure potentially resulting in the chef becoming the main course.
Inspired by tabletop board games and modern roguelikes, Feed the Scorchpot has players roll dice to gather ingredients, discover recipes, and expand a hex-grid island into an increasingly elaborate scoring engine. Farms, shrines, harbours, and other buildings can be combined to create increasingly powerful effects, allowing players to build increasingly outrageous combos as they attempt to satisfy the dragon’s demands.
The dragon will not make things easy, however. Each passing year makes it hungrier and more demanding, forcing players to constantly adapt their strategies. Players can choose to complete their contract early for higher scores or take the risk of continuing for all twenty years as the challenges become increasingly difficult.
The game features more than 50 different buildings, over 80 recipes, and 20 unique dice types that can be used to customize each run. Ingredients can be combined to increase Flavour, Essence, and Fodder, while different buildings and dice can be used to create powerful scoring chains.
With its emphasis on experimentation, Feed the Scorchpot encourages players to deliberately break its systems by finding powerful combinations and building increasingly absurd setups. No two contracts are expected to play out exactly the same way, with players having to adapt their strategies whenever their carefully constructed plans inevitably go up in flames.
And yes, players can pet the dragon.
Feed the Scorchpot is the debut game from Moravian Games, a husband-and-wife development team consisting of programmer Jakub and designer and artist Daniela. It is also the first published title from indie publisher Indieformer.
Feed the Scorchpot is available now on PC via Steam for $14.99 USD / £13.75 GBP / €14.99 EUR. The game is currently available at a 20% launch discount.
The game is also available as part of a special bundle with Balatro, bringing together the unlikely combination of dragons, jesters, and numeracy.
