Mistfall Hunter Game Director HAO has weighed in on several of the topics that have dominated community discussion since launch, touching on cheating, illegal teaming, server performance, class balance, the upcoming Brandrgarde solo mode, and the game’s long-awaited trading system.
On the subject of cheating, HAO was direct: behaviour that undermines the fairness of the game will continue to be dealt with firmly and consistently. Bans, however, are never issued off a single data point. The team cross-references client-side detection, server data, behavioural patterns, and player reports before taking action, with the stated goal of catching genuine violations while avoiding false bans.
Illegal teaming turned out to be a thornier issue to police. HAO acknowledged that a short gameplay clip often isn’t enough to distinguish ordinary team play from temporary cooperation, let alone deliberate multi-team collusion. To make that call, the team instead looks at repeated matchmaking patterns, unusual cooperation between squads, damage and elimination data, item transfers, and movement routes. HAO added that the reporting tools and report categories will keep evolving, with ban list and detection rule updates to be shared through official channels going forward.
Server lag was next on the list, and HAO offered a direct apology to affected players while confirming the technical team is actively investigating. Server logs during peak hours, match data, matchmaking-node information, and player feedback are all being reviewed to pin down what’s triggering spikes and instability. The immediate priority is shoring up match stability, with longer-term work planned around client performance, resource loading, and network synchronization. Specifics on individual fixes and timing are still to come.
Class balance, particularly the ongoing debate around Blackarrow and Withered Knight, also got some clarity. HAO explained that win rate and raw numbers alone don’t determine whether a class is flagged as overpowered. The team also factors in gear stages, team compositions, specific match scenarios, and, crucially, whether other classes and builds still have a realistic way to counter it. Being strong isn’t automatically a problem in HAO’s view; adjustments come into play once a class becomes so dominant that other players can no longer understand it, play around it, or find any counter to it at all. Both Blackarrow and Withered Knight have already seen tuning in previous maintenance updates, and the team says it’s continuing to monitor data and community feedback on the results.
The previously teased solo mode for Brandrgarde is still on track for the middle of Season One, arriving for both Normal and Cataclysm difficulties. HAO noted the team has fielded plenty of requests for the mode since launch, whether from players without a regular trio, those who’d rather skip the communication overhead of random matchmaking, or players simply wanting to test their own routes and builds. Building it out isn’t as simple as stripping teammates from the equation, though. Combat density, resource distribution, extraction pressure, and map objectives all need broader tuning to make the mode work on its own terms, so exact rules and timing are still being finalized.
Trading remains the most cautious topic of the bunch. HAO said the team doesn’t want to overpromise while it weighs the rules against the game’s overall economy, strategies to curb farming operations, and platform requirements. Three principles are currently guiding the design: trading needs to be genuinely useful for regular players managing unused items and understanding item values; it can’t make farming or abnormal transactions worse, since that would ultimately hurt legitimate players through unstable prices and reduced rewards; and the system needs to be built around the game’s long-term economic cycle rather than short-term convenience. Areas currently under review include the clarity of the trading process itself, search and filtering, price transparency, abnormal transaction detection, and dispute resolution. Specific rules and a rollout timeline will follow once the internal review wraps up.
