The Rogue Prince of Persia has reached the end of its journey, as developer Evil Empire has confirmed that the recently released Anniversary Update will be the final update for the roguelite Prince of Persia adventure.

The announcement comes roughly one year after the game’s full release, with Evil Empire explaining that the team had originally planned to release two updates but ultimately decided to combine the most important parts of both into the Anniversary Update. The developer says it feels like the right time to bring the game’s first year of post-launch support to a close.

That final update is a fairly substantial one rather than a simple farewell patch. The Anniversary Update adds new content and challenges alongside improvements to the game’s core systems, including the new Freeze element, additional gear, weapon affixes, a stats screen, rebalancing, new Arena challenges and changes to the final boss and enemy encounters.

Evil Empire also revealed that more than one million players have now played The Rogue Prince of Persia, a milestone the studio highlighted as particularly meaningful given that it was its first game as a studio. The developer thanked players who supported the game throughout its development and early access period, as well as those who continued playing after its full release.

The Rogue Prince of Persia originally launched in Early Access before reaching version 1.0 in August 2025, eventually making its way to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 alongside its existing PC release.

While this marks the end of new updates for The Rogue Prince of Persia, it doesn’t mean the game itself is going anywhere. The Anniversary Update represents Evil Empire’s final planned content drop, leaving the Prince’s latest adventure with a substantial collection of content for players to explore.

For now, it looks like Evil Empire is ready to close the book on The Rogue Prince of Persia and move on to whatever comes next, while the Prince himself is left to keep running for a very long time.
