The strange and surreal world of Kowloon is making its way to Nintendo Switch this fall, as JETMAN has announced that Kowloon’s Gate: Suzaku will launch on October 29, 2026.
Based on the 2017 PlayStation VR title Kowloon’s Gate VR: Suzaku, the upcoming Switch release reimagines the experience without requiring a VR headset, allowing players to explore its maze-like take on Kowloon Walled City from the comfort of their handheld or television. The game serves as a prequel to the original 1997 PlayStation cult classic Kowloon’s Gate, offering new perspectives on locations and characters associated with its bizarre world.
Rather than focusing on traditional combat or fast-paced action, Kowloon’s Gate: Suzaku is built around exploration and atmosphere. Players will wander through the densely packed streets and alleys of its Kowloon-inspired setting while using photographs from a mysterious album as clues. These images are used to locate specific places throughout the city, with the game’s “psychography” mechanic allowing players to recover memories connected to the locations they discover.
The Switch version also features its locations and familiar characters rendered in higher detail, giving players another opportunity to experience this particularly strange corner of the Kowloon’s Gate universe. For those who have followed the series since its original PlayStation release, Suzaku offers another way to return to its distinctive world, while newcomers can experience its surreal take on the setting for the first time.
Kowloon’s Gate: Suzaku launches digitally for Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2026.
