Sword of the Sea is set to expand its reach beyond PlayStation and PC, with publisher Fictions and developer Giant Squid bringing the atmospheric adventure to Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29.

Originally released for PlayStation 5 and PC in August 2025, Sword of the Sea combines exploration with high-speed movement built around a magical Hoversword. Players traverse surreal environments of shifting sand, ice, and other terrain, using momentum to perform tricks and uncover the remnants of a lost world.

The adventure centers on a quest to restore a lost ocean, gradually bringing life back to the barren landscapes. Its movement draws inspiration from skateboarding and snowboarding, while its distinctive visual direction comes from creative director Matt Nava, whose previous work includes ABZÛ and The Pathless, as well as Journey. The soundtrack is composed by Austin Wintory.

With its arrival on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, more players will have the opportunity to experience Giant Squid’s latest adventure when it launches on October 29.
