Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino is bringing its mysterious, folklore-inspired adventure to Nintendo Switch 2 next spring, with the upcoming game also set to launch on the original Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in spring 2027. Developer Rias and publishers room6 and yokaze announced the expanded platform lineup during Nintendo’s latest Indie World showcase, alongside a new trailer.

The 3D action-adventure follows Kitsune, a fox girl who becomes stranded on a mysterious island alongside her frog companion. Drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore, the game features a surreal landscape illuminated by shrine lights, traditional torii gates, food stall lanterns, and neon signs, with dangerous oni demons lurking in the darkness.

Players will explore the island, interact with its inhabitants, and light shrines to uncover new paths and hidden secrets. However, exploration is only part of the journey, as Kitsune must also escape from pursuing demons. Her ability to wield light can temporarily blind these enemies and help her find places to hide, although its limited uses mean players will need to recharge at shrines.

The island’s mysteries are tied to the distant Tower of Muyo, which shines with countless stolen lights. Set during the night of the Jugoya harvest festival, Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino promises an atmospheric adventure built around the contrast between its colourful surroundings and the threats hiding within them.
