Spirit Crossing is bringing its cozy multiplayer world to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch next month, with developer Spry Fox confirming a November 16 release date during Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase. The game will also launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on the same day, marking its full release after five years of development.
Rather than focusing on competition or progression, Spirit Crossing is built around exploration, creativity, and making connections with other players. Set in a strange and ever-changing world known as the Crosslands, the game lets players gather resources, build and decorate homes, participate in fishing tournaments, create murals with their neighbors, and spend time together without necessarily having a specific goal in mind.
Friendship also plays a central role, with relationships gradually unlocking features such as proximity chat, two-player emotes, gift-giving, and instant teleportation. Players can also customize their social permissions to determine how they interact with others, while extensive avatar customization and shared building spaces provide further opportunities for self-expression.
The world is populated by an assortment of unusual characters, including humans, talking bears, and wandering spirits. Players can help those in need or simply spend time with them, with patience and kindness potentially revealing more about the inhabitants and their stories.
Spirit Crossing comes from Spry Fox, the studio behind Cozy Grove, Triple Town, and Alphabear. The developer recently became independent again as an employee-owned studio, with the upcoming launch representing a significant milestone for the team.
