Taito’s psychic-powered fighting game is getting another chance to throw its competitors around the arena, as Psychic Force 2012 has been announced for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2027.
Cosmo Machia, in cooperation with Taito, revealed the return as part of its latest announcement, bringing the unusual fighter back to modern platforms more than two decades after its original release. Rather than sticking to the traditional side-on approach of most fighting games, Psychic Force 2012 is built around 360-degree, all-range battles, allowing fighters to freely move around arenas while using their psychic abilities against one another.
Originally released in arcades in 1998, Psychic Force 2012 later made its way to the Dreamcast and PlayStation in 1999. It served as a follow-up to Taito’s 1996 arcade fighter Psychic Force, expanding on the series’ combination of conventional fighting-game mechanics and supernatural abilities.
The newly announced version is currently slated for 2027, although a more specific release date has not been revealed. A Tokyo Game Show 2026 teaser has been released alongside the announcement, giving fans their first look at the game’s return to modern hardware.
