The Super Famicom version of a classic Wizardry adventure is finally making its way to PC, as Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge has been confirmed for Steam in 2027.

The announcement was made as part of the Wizardry series’ 45th anniversary celebrations, with the Japanese Wizardry account confirming the SFC version’s Steam release and a separate announcement also being shared in English. A Steam wishlist page is now live for the upcoming release, although further details will be announced at a later date.

Originally released for the Super Famicom in Japan in 1995, this version of Wizardry VI will be coming to Steam with its original atmosphere intact. The announcement was made as part of the Wizardry series’ 45th anniversary celebrations, with a Steam page now live for the upcoming release.

Developed by D4Enterprise and published by Drecom, Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge is a first-person dungeon-crawling RPG featuring turn-based command battles. The game follows adventurers venturing into a forgotten castle connected to the Cosmic Forge, a magical pen capable of making anything written with it become reality.

The SFC version features six new races and six new classes compared to the earlier Wizardry games, alongside an expanded character creation system, skills that help define individual party members, a revamped spell system and animated monsters. It also features dungeon environments alongside outdoor areas, giving this particular version its own visual identity.

The Steam release is currently listed as coming soon, with 2027 confirmed as the release year. The Steam page currently lists Japanese as the supported interface and subtitle language, with English not supported, though as mentioned, an announcement about the port was made in English.

A specific release date and further details are expected at a later date.
