Vaewolf has been announced for Windows PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the hack-and-slash action game set to launch in 2027.

Revealed during the Gamescom Find Your Next Game (FYNG) Showcase, Vaewolf puts players in the role of a young elf survivor who transforms into a supernatural predator known as the Vaewolf, a legendary hybrid of werewolf and vampire.

Developed by BAFTA and EMMY Award-shortlisted studio Milky Tea and published by Megabit, Vaewolf follows the protagonist on a quest for revenge against the Viking clan responsible for slaughtering their family.

The game is built around fast-paced combat, shapeshifting and a range of supernatural abilities. Players can use an elven bow to attack enemies from a distance before transforming into the werewolf to unleash devastating physical attacks or taking on the vampire form to wield dark magic. The ability to fluidly switch between these forms is central to Vaewolf’s combat system.

Vaewolf will also take players through a reimagined version of ancient northern England, featuring hand-drawn environments inspired by the Lake District. The game’s world will include the mountains and lakes of Cumbria alongside caves, ruins and other locations found throughout the Underground.

The game’s visual style combines graphic novel-inspired artwork with heavy shadows, clean lines and Norse influences to create a distinctive take on the English north.

A wishlist campaign is now available ahead of the game’s 2027 release.
