CD Projekt RED and Yigsoft have announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, an upgraded version of the acclaimed open-world RPG coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on September 29. The announcement was made during Gamescom Opening Night Live, where the companies also shared a first look at the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will bring a variety of visual, performance, gameplay, and quality-of-life improvements to Geralt of Rivia’s adventure. The remaster will feature upgraded visuals, enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new Witcher Signs effects, revamped mount handling, enhanced monster behaviours, a revamped skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded Photo Mode, new finishers, and more.
The game will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with CD Projekt RED teasing Switch 2-exclusive features that will be revealed at a later date. The company has not yet provided the full details on what these features will include, but more information is expected ahead of the remaster’s launch.
Players will be able to experience the complete The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt adventure, including both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. Players who already own The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, or GOG will receive the remastered version as a free upgrade.
Alongside the remaster announcement, CD Projekt RED and Fool’s Theory revealed a teaser for Songs of the Past, a new expansion currently scheduled for release in 2027. The expansion will introduce Letten, a brand-new region filled with rural traditions, folklore, bountiful harvests, and lavish festivals.
However, the peaceful appearance of Letten hides a much darker secret. Geralt will encounter never-before-seen enemies as he attempts to confront a long-dormant evil lurking beneath the region’s idyllic surface.
CD Projekt RED will be showcasing both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered and Songs of the Past during Gamescom. Guided presentations are being held in Hall 8.1, while REDstreams will also be broadcast throughout the event on YouTube and Twitch, providing additional looks at the remaster and upcoming expansion.
The company also revealed that the original Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are now available for free to existing owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players who have not yet experienced the two expansions can now play them ahead of the remaster’s September launch.
CD Projekt RED has also partnered with Blizzard Entertainment to bring The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. Players who purchase the expansion through Blizzard’s platform will receive a special Geralt-inspired skin for Diablo IV, with additional details on the collaboration expected to be revealed when CD Projekt RED attends BlizzCon in September.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launches September 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net. The remaster gives players a new reason to return to Geralt’s critically acclaimed adventure with a range of visual and gameplay improvements, while Songs of the Past will continue the story with a new adventure in 2027.
