Slime Rancher 2 is bringing its colorful creature-collecting adventure to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year, giving players another way to explore Rainbow Island. Monomi Park has confirmed that the sequel will launch on Nintendo’s latest console in January 2027, complete with an exclusive in-game toy.
The Switch 2 version will include the Glo Glo Squiggle, a toy exclusive to this release. While that is a small extra rather than a new gameplay feature, it gives returning ranchers something unique to look forward to when the game makes its way to the platform.
Slime Rancher 2 follows Beatrix LeBeau as she ventures to Rainbow Island, a mysterious location filled with unfamiliar slimes, hidden resources, and ancient technology. Players can collect slimes, expand their Conservatory, gather materials to upgrade their equipment, and uncover the secrets behind the island’s unusual environments.
The sequel also expands on the original game’s ranching and exploration with new areas, dynamic weather, additional gadgets, and the mysterious Grey Labyrinth, which is packed with puzzles and hidden discoveries. Those looking for more than slime collecting can also investigate the island’s larger mysteries as Beatrix’s adventure unfolds.
Originally released in Early Access for PC and Xbox Series X|S in 2022, Slime Rancher 2 reached PlayStation 5 in 2024 before receiving its full release across platforms in September 2025. Its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 will bring the adventure to a new audience when it launches in January 2027.
