Paradox Interactive, Iceflake Studios, and the LEGO Group have announced LEGO Skylines, a new cozy city-building and management game that brings the familiar creativity of LEGO to an expansive simulation experience. The game was revealed during gamescom Opening Night Live and is in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Developed by Iceflake Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, LEGO Skylines will let players build, customize, manage, and expand their own cities within a vibrant LEGO world. Players will begin with a small plot of land and gradually transform it into a thriving community, with their decisions shaping how the city develops over time.

The game is designed to combine the creative freedom associated with LEGO with the deeper management systems expected from a city builder. Players will first need to establish the basic infrastructure required to keep their growing population happy, including roads, electricity, food, and water. From there, they can begin expanding their cities with homes, parks, stores, hospitals, museums, sports arenas, and a wide variety of other buildings and decorations.

Players will also have plenty of opportunities to give their cities their own personality. Cities can develop into bustling metropolitan centers, cozy communities, cultural destinations, or something completely different depending on how players choose to build. Customizable plots, buildings, and LEGO decorations will provide plenty of options for creating a city that feels unique.

As the city grows, players will unlock additional buildings and services for their citizens. Keeping the population happy and maintaining a well-functioning city will increase its overall rating, giving players more opportunities to expand and develop their creations.

There are also plenty of smaller details to discover while building. Players can establish farms to produce wheat, then use that wheat to supply bakeries throughout their cities, adding another layer of charm to the management experience. The emphasis is not simply on constructing the largest possible city, but on creating a place where every building and detail can be positioned exactly where players want it.

“Most of us at Iceflake grew up building LEGO sets, and we’ve carried that passion with us to this day,” said Lasse Liljedahl, Co-Founder and Game Director at Iceflake Studios. “With LEGO Skylines, we want to turn city building into a more personal experience, where only your imagination limits what kind of cities you can build.”

The LEGO Group’s Fredrik Löving, SVP and Global Head of GAME, added that the project is intended to combine the creative nature of LEGO with the depth of the city-building genre, giving players the freedom to create everything from bustling metropolises to quirky seaside towns.

LEGO Skylines is currently available to wishlist on Steam and is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. More information is available through the game’s official website and social channels.
