Dodo Tako, the publishing label of Canadian indie developer Triple Boris, has announced that co-op party game Hack ‘n’ Stack will launch on Steam and Nintendo Switch on September 24, 2026.

Following a successful showing during the latest Steam Next Fest, where players were able to try out a free demo, Hack ‘n’ Stack is preparing to unleash its chaotic combination of tower defense, cooperative strategy, and physics-based mayhem. The game will also be playable at Gamescom at the Dodo Tako booth in Hall 10.2, Booth F011g.

In Hack ‘n’ Stack, up to four players can team up locally or online to gather resources, build walls and defensive towers, and survive relentless waves of enemies. While cooperation is certainly encouraged, the game’s physics-based gameplay means there is nothing stopping players from turning their carefully planned defenses into absolute chaos.

Pretty much everything in the world can be used as a weapon, including building blocks, stunned enemies, environmental objects, and even your own teammates. What starts as an organized attempt to defend your position can quickly turn into a physics-driven free-for-all as players throw whatever they can get their hands on at the approaching hordes.

Community feedback has also played an important role in shaping the game. Following the release of the demo during Steam Next Fest, Triple Boris gathered feedback from players and used it to refine the experience ahead of launch.

“Player expectations are constantly evolving, so staying agile is essential. Community feedback has always been at the heart of our development process,” said Simon Dansereau, Co-Founder and CEO of Triple Boris. “After releasing the Hack ‘n’ Stack demo during Steam Next Fest, we gathered invaluable player feedback that helped us refine the experience and make the game even more fun and satisfying.”

The project also marks the next step for Triple Boris as an independent developer. After working with industry names such as Ludia, Activision, Unity, and ZeniMax Online Studios, the team created the Dodo Tako label as a way to develop original worlds and experiences of its own.

“Our goal is simple: build games that bring people together through creativity, laughter, and memorable multiplayer moments,” Dansereau added.

Hack ‘n’ Stack will feature 24 handcrafted levels spread across four distinct biomes: Forest, Village, Coast, and Mountains. Each environment introduces its own challenges as players gather resources, construct defenses, and attempt to survive increasingly dangerous enemy waves.

Players can also choose between four playable anthropomorphic heroes, with more than 750 combinations of hats and weapons available for customization. Five different enemy classes will keep players on their toes, including standard, fast, heavy, explosive, and armored enemies that each require different strategies to overcome.

Local split-screen and online multiplayer support allows up to four players to join the action, while the game’s vibrant hand-painted cartoon visuals and expressive animations give the entire experience a colorful personality.

Whether players work together to create the ultimate defensive stronghold or spend the entire match throwing each other into danger, Hack ‘n’ Stack looks to put a decidedly chaotic spin on the co-op party game formula.

Hack ‘n’ Stack launches on Steam and Nintendo Switch on September 24, 2026. The game will be available in English and French for $19.99 USD / €10.99.

The game will also be published by Sticky Rice in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Thailand.
