The Neo Geo is no stranger to beat em up games or the Double Dragon franchise, but not the two at the same time.
SNK’s platform received two Double Dragon games with 1995’s Double Dragon, which was a fighting game and Rage of the Dragons, an unofficial release and also a fighting game, but not a beat em up entry.
That is about to change thanks to a new unofficial port of the original 1987 title, thanks to neocvera. This release has been dubbed Double Dragon One, and uses assets from the delisted iOS version of Technōs’ belt-scrolling brawler.
The developer has even shown off the game running on MiSTer and Analogue Pocket, and promises to release more details soon. At last a void in the platform’s library has been filled.
