Become, a third-person adventure that follows a sperm cell on a journey through the human reproductive system, has surpassed 145,000 wishlists on Steam. The unusual indie game has also earned several accolades in recent months, including multiple honours at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
At September’s Tokyo Game Show, Become was named one of seven Gold Award winners in the Selected Indie 80 showcase, which featured a selection from more than 1,500 entries. The game also received the Pocky Award from the event’s official ambassador and was chosen as a Sense of Wonder Night finalist. This recognition follows its success at Game Access in Brno, where it won Best Pitch and earned a nomination for Best Game.
Developed as a short, single-player adventure, Become turns the journey of a sperm cell into a playable experience spanning approximately two to three hours. Players must navigate the dangers of the human reproductive system, collecting resources such as sugars and proteins to improve their cell while adapting to hostile environments, immune cells, and acidic traps.
The adventure also involves rescuing other sperm cells to overcome obstacles, navigating treacherous currents, and evolving to become a more capable swimmer. Players can customize their character’s appearance while exploring the microscopic world, with the ultimate goal of reaching the finish line and creating new life.
With more than 145,000 Steam wishlists and growing recognition on the indie scene, Become is attracting attention for its decidedly unconventional take on the adventure genre. Its mix of biological concepts, resource gathering, and playful exploration offers a rather different spin on one of life’s most fundamental processes.
