Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun has received a surprise Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and existing owners of the original Switch version can upgrade for free,
Listed on the Nintendo eShop as Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun – Forges of Corruption Edition, the new release bundles the base game with its Forges of Corruption expansion. Neither publisher Focus Entertainment nor developer Auroch Digital appears to have made a separate announcement about the release, making the eShop listing the first indication of the new edition.
The Forges of Corruption expansion adds new missions, weapons, and enemies to the original campaign. The base game and expansion are also available separately, giving players the option to purchase them individually rather than as part of the bundled edition, and if you do not own the expansion, you can still upgrade to the base game’s Switch 2 edition.
Originally released in 2023, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun combines the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000 with the fast-paced combat and pixelated visuals of classic first-person shooters. Players take control of a Space Marine armed with an arsenal of devastating weapons, blasting through Chaos forces in a bloody, retro-inspired campaign.
The new edition arrives alongside the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, which launches today for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The sequel is also planned for Nintendo Switch 2, giving fans another reason to return to the original as the series prepares for its next outing.
