WARDOGS has already made a huge impact on Steam, with BULKHEAD and Team17 announcing that the multiplayer shooter has surpassed two million copies sold less than five days after entering Early Access.

WARDOGS launched into Steam Early Access on September 10, and its opening weekend saw the game reach an all-time peak of 428,666 concurrent players on September 13, according to SteamDB. That momentum follows a strong pre-launch campaign for the game, which reached 100,000 Steam wishlists just three days after its reveal, passed 500,000 in May and reached one million wishlists in August.

“Two million in less than five days is completely ridiculous,” said Joe Brammer, CEO at BULKHEAD. “We knew there was a huge amount of excitement around WARDOGS going into launch, but nothing really prepares you for seeing this many people actually jump into the game.”

Brammer also highlighted the player-created chaos that has emerged since launch, including clips, strategies and last-second victories, while noting that the team is continuing to work on the game during Early Access based on player feedback.

That chaos is reflected in some of the numbers generated by the WARDOGS community. Between 5 p.m. on September 10 and 5 a.m. on September 14, players earned a combined $1.28 trillion in-game cash and spent $561.9 billion. During the same period, players recorded 122.2 million kills, 86.1 million headshots, 60.7 million revives, 27.7 million heals, 4.6 million tower captures, 51.1 million drop-offs, 212.8 million spots and 111.8 million tips.

Players have also earned 188.9 billion XP so far, with Support currently accounting for the largest share at 21.42%. Assault follows at 20.54%, with Medic at 19.97%, Recon at 18.66%, Driver at 10.57% and Pilot at 8.70%.

The game’s Early Access launch builds on several rounds of community testing. Nearly half a million players took part in the August Closed Beta, while the final pre-launch test reached 245,118 concurrent players on Steam. BULKHEAD says the testing helped the team improve performance and stability, while community clips, streams and videos helped build interest ahead of launch.

BULKHEAD is now giving players another reason to share their best moments with the WARDOGS $100K Clip Contest. The competition is looking for the game’s best plays, biggest fails and most chaotic moments, with the overall winner receiving $100,000 in cash. The remaining members of the Top 100 will each receive $100,000 in WARDOGS in-game cash.

WARDOGS is available now in Steam Early Access. The game is also planned to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox in 2028, with wishlists now available for both platforms.
