Dovetail Games has officially launched Train Sim World 7, bringing the latest entry in its train simulation series to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam Deck. The new installment introduces a selection of highly requested routes and locomotives alongside new gameplay options designed to make the series more approachable for newcomers.
Train Sim World 7 takes players across three very different settings at launch. The Airedale & Wharfedale Network in England features the Northern BR Class 331 and 333 EMUs, while Germany’s Bahnstrecke Nürnberg – Würzburg route lets players reach speeds of up to 265km/h aboard the ICE 4, DB BR Class 440 and DB BR Class 412. Florida also makes its debut in the series with the Tri-Rail route, featuring the BL36-PH and Tri-Rail GP49H-3 locomotives.
The new entry also adds several ways to experience its routes. Freight Hauler Mode puts players in control of freight services, with performance determined by how efficiently they locate, transport and deliver different types of cargo. Live Weather Mode, meanwhile, brings real-world weather conditions from the route’s location into the game.
For players who simply want to get behind the controls and start driving, new Beginner controls allow trains to be operated in Timetable and Free Roam modes without going through the full setup process. Players can concentrate on acceleration, braking and enjoying the scenery without needing to manage every aspect of the train.
Train Sim World 7 also features faster loading times, new conductor settings, quality-of-life improvements and graphical upgrades on PC through its new EPIC mode. Steam Deck support is another major addition, giving players a new way to take their railway journeys on the go.
Dovetail Games is also promising an extensive post-launch roadmap, with new routes in Japan, Romania and Portugal, alongside a return to the Netherlands. The highly requested ECML King’s Cross route is also planned as an upcoming add-on.

Players who want to try the series before purchasing can also access a Free Starter Pack. It includes the Training Center as well as features such as Free Roam and Livery Designer, allowing players to sample a selection of locomotives before upgrading to a full edition. Players upgrading from a previous version can also bring their existing Train Sim World add-ons with them.
Train Sim World 7 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam Deck. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, while the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions cost $79.99 and $129.99, respectively.
