Nearly 30 years after the original tactical RPG debuted, The Legend of Fancy Realm is making its return. USERJOY has launched The Legend of Fancy Realm Remake , on Steam and the UJ Mall, bringing Leonard and his companions back to the Halueseon Continent with rebuilt visuals, characters, battle systems, and presentation.
Originally released in 1998, The Legend of Fancy Realm follows mercenary Leonard and his companions as they become caught up in the conflict engulfing the Halueseon Continent. The remake retains the original game’s combination of tactical strategy, character development, class promotion, branching storylines, and hidden exploration while updating its controls and selected systems for modern players.
Battles continue to revolve around positioning, terrain, party composition, character abilities, skill combinations, and class traits. Several of the original game’s distinctive features are also returning, including Kill Streaks, Character Promotion, Hidden Treasures, Special Merchants, and optional paths to explore. The remake also adds new side stories, special battles, character outfits, and content such as Warfront Gambit, which was first introduced in the Steam Demo.
Players looking to revisit the original experience can also launch the complete 1998 version of The Legend of Fancy Realm directly from the remake.
USERJOY is also continuing work on player-created content, with Steam Workshop support in development. Future creation events will give players opportunities to design their own tactical scenarios, including stage layouts, victory and defeat conditions, enemy formations, and special rules. Players without modding experience will also be able to submit video concepts for potential campaign content, with selected ideas planned to be highlighted through the game’s official community channels.
For players familiar with the relevant tools, an official Workshop Creation Challenge is also planned as part of the game’s broader Steam Workshop development.
The development team has further confirmed that future DLC expansion content will be provided as free title updates for all owners. The upcoming additions will introduce new narrative content that was not featured in previous entries, although details on the new characters, stories, and stages have yet to be finalized.
To celebrate the launch, The Legend of Fancy Realm Remake is also available at a 10% discount on Steam and the UJ Mall from September 10 through September 24, 2026.
