RuneScape: Dragonwilds has officially launched on PC and consoles, marking the first time a RuneScape title has made its way to console platforms in the franchise’s 25-year history. Developed and published by Jagex, the open-world survival and crafting game is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S following an 18-month Early Access period that saw more than 1.5 million copies sold on Steam.
The full launch also brings RuneScape: Dragonwilds to Xbox Game Pass across the Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass tiers, while PlayStation 5 players can access the game through the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus.
Set on the previously unexplored continent of Ashenfall, RuneScape: Dragonwilds offers a separate experience from the long-running RuneScape MMORPG. Players can explore its various biomes alone or in groups of up to four, gathering resources, crafting equipment and shelters, completing quests, battling familiar RuneScape creatures, and uncovering the mysteries surrounding the continent’s anima-rich landscape.
Ashenfall’s wild magic also plays a major role in survival, allowing players to use spells to gather resources, travel, fight enemies, and interact with the environment. Players can summon a spectral axe to cut down trees, blink away from danger, manipulate resources with magic, and eventually face the Dragon Queen as they follow the trail of destruction left across the continent.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds has received numerous content updates throughout Early Access, including the Fellhollow, Dowdun Reach, and Umbral Sands updates, which added new regions, quests, gameplay mechanics, enemies, and items. The console versions include all of the content released during Early Access and support cross-play across all platforms.
Today’s launch also introduces the game’s fourth major update, Scorned Wilderness, which brings the opening narrative arc of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the Kuldra Saga, to its conclusion.
“After nearly a year and a half since we first gave players early access, we’re really excited to finally launch RuneScape: Dragonwilds across PC and console platforms,” said Jesse America, Executive Producer of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. “It’s the culmination of months of working towards bringing the game to millions of new players, and we’re only really getting started.”
Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy added that the launch represents a major moment for the franchise, describing RuneScape: Dragonwilds as the third pillar of the RuneScape franchise alongside its existing games. Jagex has also confirmed that the game’s first major post-launch update, Luminance, is scheduled to arrive in December, with the 2027 roadmap set to be revealed during October’s RuneFest celebration.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is now available through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher in Digital Standard and Deluxe Editions, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical Standard and Deluxe Editions will follow on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in Q4 2026.
