LEVEL-5 has delayed crime suspense RPG DECAPOLICE from its previously planned 2026 release window to 2027. The game will launch for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The delay was announced during the LEVEL-5 Vision 2026 II Dream broadcast, where LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino also confirmed that DECAPOLICE will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, taking place from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
DECAPOLICE puts its own spin on detective work by having players investigate cases within a virtual world. Players will explore recreated crime scenes, gather evidence, question suspects, and organize their findings on a Case Board before using their deductions to identify the culprit. The investigation system is part of a larger gameplay loop that also incorporates arrests and battles.
In addition to its main cases, DECAPOLICE will feature optional Case Missions with additional mysteries to solve. Hino described the game as puzzle-based like Professor Layton, while emphasizing that its story and overall approach to mystery are considerably different.
LEVEL-5 is also working with SCRAP, the creators of real escape games and other immersive experiences, on the game’s case concepts. The Three Mafioso Murders case shown during the broadcast was developed from one of SCRAP’s original concepts.
Hino acknowledged that DECAPOLICE is taking longer than expected to complete, but said LEVEL-5 is focused on delivering a unique gameplay experience. More information is expected to be revealed in the future.
