Idea Factory International will bring Compile Heart-developed action RPG Villion: Code to the West in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam. Physical editions are planned for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch in North America, while Europe will receive a physical PlayStation 5 edition.
Villion: Code originally launched in Japan on June 25 for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and Switch. The game is produced by Kouji “Cozy” Okada and features contributions from several notable creators, including artist Ilya Kuvshinov, scenario writer Tadashi Satomi, and composer Tsukasa Masuko.
Set in a near future where humanity is facing extinction, the story follows the Adhvan Resilience School, an institution established to prepare for an impending calamity. After monstrous creatures known as GEMs begin attacking the population, the academy city is sealed inside a mysterious bubble, leaving those trapped within to confront the consequences of their actions while searching for the truth behind the anomaly.
Players can explore Adhvan City and enter the Sankhara Space-Time, randomly generated 360-degree tube-shaped dungeons inspired by Buddhism’s Ten Evils. Combat revolves around Genome Arms, mutated weapons with different attack traits that allow players to switch between melee and ranged attacks while chaining combos.
Dungeons also provide materials used to synthesize Genome Cubes, which can be enhanced with EX Factors to improve stats, add bonuses, and unlock passive skills. The story is presented through Conversation and Investigation events featuring Kuvshinov’s artwork, with player choices capable of influencing what happens next.
