Triomatica Games is bringing its theatre-themed logic puzzle game I Want to Play the Villain! to a wider audience, with the PlayStation and Xbox store pages now live ahead of its Q1 2027 release. Players on both platforms can wishlist the game ahead of launch, while the title is also in development for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android.
In I Want to Play the Villain!, players are tasked with putting together the perfect theatrical performance, but simply assigning actors to their roles isn’t enough. Each member of the cast has their own personality, ambitions, fears, preferences, and relationships that need to be taken into account. Players must rearrange the cast, change costumes, alter elements of the story, and figure out how to satisfy everyone involved.
The game’s puzzles are built around these different character traits, with seemingly small changes potentially having a major effect on the resulting performance. An actor might be desperate to land a particular role, for example, while another needs to be kept away from something they fear. Finding the right combination becomes increasingly complicated as players progress through the game’s chapters.
Each chapter introduces a new setting, cast of characters, mechanics, and story, with the modular nature of the performances allowing players to create different outcomes. Rather than simply following a fixed sequence of puzzles, the goal is to understand what makes each character tick and use that information to construct a performance where everyone gets what they want.
A demo is already available on Steam for those who want to try the game ahead of its full release. Mobile players can also check out Villain!, a free standalone version containing the first chapter of I Want to Play the Villain!, which is currently available on iOS and Android.
I Want to Play the Villain! is scheduled to launch in Q1 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, Android, and the Samsung Galaxy Store. The game will support English, Ukrainian, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese at launch, with pricing yet to be announced.
