GRIME 2 is bringing its bizarre world of shape-shifting creatures and challenging combat to Nintendo’s hybrid consoles, with the upcoming Nintendo Switch release now joined by a Nintendo Switch 2 version. According to newly discovered eShop listings, the sequel from developer Clover Bite and publisher Kwalee is scheduled to launch on both platforms on November 27, 2026.
Serving as a follow-up to 2021’s GRIME, the sequel expands on the original game’s unsettling world with a new adventure set in a mysterious land filled with strange environments, dangerous creatures, and formidable bosses. Players take on the role of a Formless, an art mimic capable of absorbing defeated enemies and transforming their forms into molds that can be summoned during combat.
This ability plays a central role in GRIME 2’s combat system, allowing players to use captured creatures for special attacks, including throwing enemies, firing projectiles, stunning opponents, and summoning additional creatures. Players can also use hand-like tendrils to parry incoming attacks or grasp enemies to absorb their forms, adding another layer to the game’s action-oriented exploration.
There is also plenty of room to experiment with different approaches to combat, with more than 30 weapons, 60 armor pieces, and 12 abilities available to customize a character’s playstyle. Environmental combat is another important part of the experience, as the surrounding world can be used against enemies, although opponents can take advantage of the environment as well.
With GRIME 2 now heading to both Nintendo Switch generations, players will have another opportunity to experience Clover Bite’s unusual take on the Metroidvania genre. The game is scheduled to arrive digitally on November 27, 2026, giving Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners a chance to explore its surreal world later this month.
