Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has entered a new chapter with the launch of Version 2.60, bringing the long-awaited Id to the roster alongside new battle mechanics, a new stage, additional DLC, and a new Legendary Edition that bundles together a substantial amount of previously released content. Cygames and Arc System Works have also revealed several changes to the game’s availability and pricing, including the upcoming end of the Free Edition.
The biggest addition in Version 2.60 is Id, the latest playable character to join Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Previously bound to a cruel fate, Id has since settled into life as the local Mr. Fix It in Folca, wielding the draconic power within him to overwhelm his opponents. His Additional Character Set is available for $7.99 and includes the playable character, an Id (Godmight) premium avatar, a badge, Figure Studio poses and expressions, and additional Figure Studio assets.
Id’s arrival is accompanied by the new Chain Attack battle mechanic, a Super Ultimate+ control scheme, the Ainsteddo Archipelago stage, and balance adjustments for several characters. The update also adds a collection of new weapon skin packs, while several character colors, costumes, and weapon skins that were previously Premium Battle Pass rewards are now available through DLC and the in-game Rupie Shop.
Alongside the update, Cygames has released Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The new edition includes the base game, Id and content from his Additional Character Set, as well as character colors, costumes, premium avatars, and a stage from Deluxe Character Pass Part 1 and Part 2, making it a new way for players to pick up much of the game’s post-launch content in one package.
Players who purchase or pre-order the Legendary Edition during its early purchase period will also receive Sandalphon’s Reverent Attire costume. The bonus will be available until 6:59 a.m. PT on January 12, 2027, with Cygames planning to sell the costume separately after the promotion ends.
The Legendary Edition also introduces a save data link bonus tied to Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok. Players with save data from both games on the same platform and user account can unlock a range of bonuses, including the Premium Sword weapon skin for Id, Id color variants, Lyria and Id lobby avatars, special card designs, a trophy, and Id’s system voice in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Meanwhile, Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok players can receive the Karmic Sword of the Apocalypse as an Id-themed weapon.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners get a couple of additional features with this version of the game. Gyro Versus allows players to perform combos and abilities by shaking their Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controllers, offering a more motion-focused way to play, while local communication allows nearby players to battle without an internet connection.
Cygames is also changing how Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is sold. The Standard Edition on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam is now priced at $24.99, while the Deluxe Edition is no longer available. The Free Edition is also being phased out, with downloads and playability ending at 8 a.m. PT on November 1, 2026. Players who already have Free Edition save data will still be able to transfer it to the full retail version after the Free Edition service ends.
With Id now joining the roster, Version 2.60 gives Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising another substantial content update while the Legendary Edition provides a new entry point for players who want a more complete package. The game is currently available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, with cross-platform multiplayer and a mixture of traditional fighting game mechanics, simplified inputs, story content, and party modes.
