GungHo Online Entertainment America and Nihon Falcom are inviting fans to return to Liberl, with Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Serving as a full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, the latest release continues Estelle Bright’s journey following the events that left the Liberl Kingdom shaken. Joshua has disappeared, leaving Estelle to set out in search of him, but what begins as a personal journey soon draws her into the increasingly dangerous plans of Ouroboros and its Enforcers.
With Liberl once again caught in the middle of a much larger threat, Estelle must grow into her role as a young leader while confronting an enemy whose ambitions extend well beyond the kingdom.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has been rebuilt for modern platforms with updated visuals, reorchestrated music, quality-of-life improvements, and full English and Japanese voice acting. Players who have clear data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter can also carry it over to receive bonus items and continue their journey, while those who played the new game’s demo can transfer their progress into the full release.
The remake also expands its combat system with new Crafts and S-Crafts, along with Quick Battles and the Brave Rush system for chaining attacks. The Orbment system remains central to combat, allowing players to access a variety of Arts as they build their parties.
Several characters who previously appeared as NPCs have also been made playable, giving players more options when assembling their party. Outside of combat and the main story, Estelle and her companions can spend some downtime in Liberl through activities including fishing, poker, and cooking.
The Standard Edition is available for $59.99 USD on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition costs $64.99. Players who purchase the Nintendo Switch version can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for $4.99.
A $24.99 Season Pass is also available separately on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam, offering a selection of cosmetic DLC. The Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the base game and Season Pass for $79.99 on those platforms.
Physical copies of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter are also available through major North American retailers, giving fans another opportunity to experience Estelle’s next chapter in the modernized version of one of Falcom’s most celebrated RPGs.
