What if the key to escaping a magical library was the power of song? Echoes of the Unread, the musical adventure from Clever Cat Games, Mega Cat Studios, and 8-Bit Legit, is now available on Steam, with a physical NES cartridge edition also launching through the Mega Cat Studios online store.
The launch is accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the colourful storybook worlds that await Rhapsody, a young girl who finds herself trapped in a strange realm after falling asleep while studying in a library. With books coming to life and her voice capable of shaping the world around her, she must explore these imaginative settings and find a way home before the wicked magician Odele keeps her imprisoned forever.
Rhapsody’s journey takes her through a variety of worlds inspired by different literary genres, including an eerie graveyard, a Wild West town, and a watery fantasy realm. Along the way, she’ll encounter unusual characters, from cowboys and mermaids to mischievous ghosts, while using magical melodies to solve puzzles, battle enemies, and uncover secrets.
Players can also unlock new abilities to help Rhapsody on her adventure, befriend the characters she encounters, and test their skills in a challenging retro mode. With its musical mechanics and storybook-inspired settings, Echoes of the Unread combines a whimsical fantasy adventure with a distinctly retro sensibility, now available on both modern PC storefronts and original NES hardware.
