Bandai Namco Entertainment America has shared a new developer message for CODE VEIN II, offering a closer look at the upcoming Mask of Idris DLC and free Ver. 2.0 update ahead of their September 9 launch.
Director Hiroshi Yoshimura and Producer Keita Iizuka discuss what players can expect from the next chapter of CODE VEIN II, with the developer message also showcasing new gameplay from Mask of Idris. The expansion will take players into a new setting filled with characters and events connected to the game’s time-altering storyline.
The Mask of Idris DLC is set in the Forsaken World, a realm created from histories that were erased after changes to the past. As the Temporal Rift continues to spread, the world has become increasingly unstable, creating a new environment for players to explore and uncover another side of the game’s story.
Among the characters players will encounter is Liv Voda, the sister of Valentin and the original guardian of the Temporal Rift. Unlike the protagonist, Liv sees the player as an outsider who has entered a world where they do not belong, setting up a new conflict as the story progresses.
The expansion will also introduce another version of Lou, with this alternate incarnation carrying her own history and tragedy. The circumstances surrounding this different Lou are expected to play an important role in the story, with more of her past revealed throughout the DLC.
Mask of Idris isn’t the only addition arriving on September 9, as the free Ver. 2.0 update will expand the game’s post-game content with several new features. One of these is the Age of Harmony, which allows players to spend more time with their partners while experiencing new episodes focused on each character.
Players looking for a tougher challenge will also have the Trials of Remembrance to tackle. The new mode pits players against consecutive boss encounters, giving them an opportunity to revisit some of the game’s biggest battles while earning new rewards. More than 90 character customization parts will be available through the new content, providing additional options for players who enjoy customizing their characters.
Ver. 2.0 will also add Jadwiga as a summonable partner, giving players another character to bring into battle. The update will include a new story-focused mode as well, although Bandai Namco has not yet revealed all of its details.
Another notable addition is the Legacy character shader, which gives characters an appearance inspired by the anime-influenced visual style of the original CODE VEIN. It offers another way for returning players to give their characters a look that pays tribute to the first game.
With Mask of Idris and Ver. 2.0 arriving simultaneously, CODE VEIN II is set to receive a substantial post-launch expansion that adds both new story content and additional reasons to return to the game after completing its main campaign.
CODE VEIN II: Mask of Idris launches on September 9, 2026. The expansion is available now for purchase and is included with the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of CODE VEIN II. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
