Blades of Mirage is now available to try on Steam, giving players an early opportunity to experience the upcoming isometric action RPG from Agate and Red Dunes Games. The newly released demo arrives alongside a new trailer highlighting the game’s rune-based customization, exploration, combat, and puzzle-focused encounters.
Set across a fractured world inspired in part by Southeast Asian mythology, Blades of Mirage follows Mira, a wanderer whose journey takes her across ancient islands filled with dangerous enemies, mysterious relics, and challenges that require more than simply defeating whatever stands in her way.
A major part of the game’s progression revolves around its rune system, allowing players to customize Mira’s abilities and shape how she approaches combat. Rather than relying on a single fixed build, players can use different combinations of runes and skills to create a playstyle that suits them, with the choices they make influencing how they tackle the game’s various encounters.
Exploration also plays a significant role in the adventure. The islands Mira visits are filled with secrets to uncover, puzzles to solve, and corrupted guardians to overcome. The game’s encounters are designed to combine combat with problem-solving, giving players reasons to pay attention to their surroundings instead of simply moving from one battle to the next.
Agate has also used feedback from multiple rounds of playtesting to help shape the version of the demo now being released. According to the development team, feedback from gaming communities played a role in refining how the experience is presented and making the different gameplay options more accessible to players.
Blades of Mirage features two difficulty modes designed to offer noticeably different approaches to its action-oriented gameplay. The default mode is intended to provide a more demanding experience where precision and patience are important, while the casual mode introduces features such as animation cancellation to make combat feel smoother and more forgiving.
That gives players the option of approaching the demo with either a more deliberate combat style or a faster action-adventure experience. The distinction should also give prospective players a better idea of how Blades of Mirage’s combat can be adapted depending on how they prefer to play.
Beyond its combat and customization systems, the game’s setting is one of its more distinctive elements. Blades of Mirage draws inspiration from Southeast Asian mythology as Mira travels through a world filled with ancient locations, corrupted guardians, and relics connected to her journey. The combination of exploration, mythology, puzzles, and action RPG mechanics gives the game a setting that stands apart from the more familiar fantasy worlds often seen in the genre.
The new demo provides a chance to see how these different systems come together before the game’s full release. Players interested in the project can now head to Steam to get an early look at Mira’s adventure and experiment with the game’s rune-driven progression and combat options.
Blades of Mirage is being developed by Agate and Red Dunes Games, with Red Dunes Games also handling publishing. The demo is available on Steam starting today, September 1, 2026.
