Arc System Works is bringing BlazBlue: Central Fiction to PlayStation 5, giving the long-running 2D fighting game another opportunity to find its audience with a collection of new features designed to improve the experience for competitive players.

Originally released in 2015, BlazBlue: Central Fiction will receive rollback netcode and cross-play compatibility with the PC version on Steam, making it easier for players on both platforms to compete against one another. The upcoming version will also introduce four additional text languages, French, Italian, German, and Spanish, alongside new Training Mode features.

The PS5 version is currently in development, with a release date yet to be announced. Arc System Works has also clarified that its planned updates will not all arrive together, as the new version’s launch and language update will be separate from the release of the recently announced downloadable character Trinity Glassfille.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction originally launched for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 before arriving on Nintendo Switch and PC, and its upcoming PS5 version marks another step in keeping the fan-favorite fighter active more than a decade after its debut. With rollback netcode, PC cross-play, and additional training options on the way, the new release looks set to give the game’s dedicated community more reasons to return to the fight.
