Arizona Sunshine is bringing its zombie-slaying action to a new perspective, with Vertigo Games announcing that the remake will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 21, 2027.
Unlike the series’ original virtual reality release, this remake reimagines the experience as a third-person shooter, with solo play and two-player cooperative multiplayer. Players will once again take on the role of Sunny, a survivor navigating Arizona’s zombie-infested wasteland alongside his loyal dog, Buddy, while battling hordes of the undead known as Freds.
The remake also introduces a new way to experience its cooperative gameplay, as Buddy will be fully playable in co-op for the first time. Players can team up online or through split-screen multiplayer, using an arsenal of weapons that includes shotguns, machetes, and flamethrowers to survive encounters with overwhelming numbers of zombies.
Pre-orders are now available, with the Standard Edition priced at $24.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $29.99. The Standard Edition includes the game and the Desert Raiders Pack, featuring exclusive skins for Sunny and Buddy.
The Deluxe Edition includes the Neon Wastelander Pack, Fred’s Fashion Pack, and a Legacy DLC pack scheduled to arrive at a later date. The latter features the original Arizona Sunshine VR campaign alongside its Legacy: Dead Man and Legacy: The Damned expansions. Deluxe Edition pre-orders also grant 48 hours of early access, in addition to the Desert Raiders Pack.
With its shift to third-person combat, expanded cooperative options, and Buddy’s playable debut in multiplayer, Arizona Sunshine offers a new take on the zombie shooter ahead of its January launch.
