The end is approaching for Pokémon UNITE, with The Pokémon Company confirming that the free-to-play multiplayer game will shut down on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices on March 23, 2027. The announcement brings an end to nearly six years of service for the Pokémon-themed MOBA, which first launched on Nintendo Switch in July 2021 before expanding to mobile devices.

Players still have several months to enjoy the game, but some changes are already underway. Purchases of Aeos Gems have been suspended, while new UNITE Club memberships and automatic membership renewals are also being discontinued. Players with existing memberships can continue receiving their benefits until their subscriptions expire, and any remaining Aeos Gems can still be used before the servers go offline.

A special in-game event is scheduled to begin on November 12, giving players an opportunity to earn Unite Coins that can be exchanged for in-game items and cosmetics. The game will also receive a library feature that allows players to look back at their Pokémon, achievements, battle records, and collected cosmetics. Players will need to download their library data before the service ends if they want to preserve access to these records.

Once Pokémon UNITE shuts down, online matches will no longer be playable, marking the end of the game’s competitive and casual multiplayer experience. The closure also follows the earlier announcement that Pokémon UNITE would not be included in the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, although a separate international tournament, Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027, is still scheduled to take place in Tokyo on March 20 and 21, just days before the game’s service ends.

With its final months now approaching, Pokémon UNITE players have a limited window to enjoy the game, use their remaining in-game currency, and take advantage of the farewell event before its online battles come to an end.
