Ubisoft is bringing its open-world extreme sports game Riders Republic to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, but the new platform release isn’t the only reason the game is making headlines. The same day will also see the introduction of Offline Play across all platforms, giving existing players a new way to enjoy the game without an internet connection.

Developed by Ubisoft Annecy, Riders Republic features a wide range of outdoor activities, including biking, skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit flying. Players can explore a large open world inspired by American national parks, participate in races and trick competitions, and take part in multiplayer events. The upcoming Switch 2 version will bring that experience to Nintendo’s latest console, while the simultaneous offline update will benefit players on other platforms, too.

The new Nomad mode will allow players to explore the world, progress through their careers, discover landmarks and scenic locations, collect balloons, and customize their characters without being connected to the internet. Progress made offline will carry over to the player’s online save once they reconnect, ensuring their activities still contribute to their overall progression.

However, Offline Play won’t make every feature available without an internet connection. The in-game shop, seasonal progression, sponsors, multiplayer modes, and user-created events will continue to require an online connection.

The announcement also coincides with Riders Republic’s fifth anniversary, with Ubisoft organizing a free weekend from October 22 to 26. Players will be able to try the game during that period, with their progress carrying over if they subsequently purchase it.

Riders Republic arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, the same day Offline Play rolls out across platforms. Rather than being a feature exclusive to the new Nintendo version, the update will give the game’s existing community another way to hit the slopes, take to the trails, and explore its open world.
