Tetris Effect is about to make the world around you part of the game. Enhance, Monstars, and Resonair have announced Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities, a new take on the acclaimed puzzle experience built specifically around mixed-reality technology.
Set to launch in 2027 for Quest 3 and the newly announced Meta VR Glasses, Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities will use mixed reality to bring the game’s distinctive audiovisual style into the player’s physical surroundings. Rather than simply placing a virtual game board in front of you, the experience is designed to transform the room itself into part of the action.
Enhance describes the game as a reinvention of Tetris Effect that uses mixed reality to transport players into “magical, musical realms.” The surroundings can become anything from a deep-sea aquarium to a remote space station, with players building Tetriminos to create gateways into other dimensions.
The concept appears to build on one of Tetris Effect’s defining strengths, combining the familiar mechanics of Tetris with music, visuals, and constantly changing environments. This time, however, those elements will be layered directly onto the real world, blurring the boundary between the player’s room and the game’s fantastical settings.
Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for Quest 3 and Meta VR Glasses.
