Phoenix Wright is preparing to take on his most immersive courtroom yet. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR has been announced for Meta Quest and Meta VR Glasses, bringing the 2013 courtroom adventure into virtual reality with a new way to investigate cases and challenge witnesses.

Developed by AMATA Games under license from Capcom, the VR adaptation is scheduled to launch in 2027. Rather than simply presenting Dual Destinies as a traditional game inside a VR headset, the new version is being rebuilt around the format, allowing players to physically interact with elements of its investigations and courtroom battles.

That means examining crime scenes in 3D, looking around environments from different perspectives, and interacting with evidence in a more direct way. Hand tracking will also play a role, allowing players to point toward witnesses and evidence during trials, while voice commands give players another way to deliver Phoenix’s most famous courtroom declaration.

The story remains centred around Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, and Athena Cykes as they navigate a legal system struggling through what the game calls the “Dark Age of the Law.” As usual, uncovering contradictions and determining what really happened will be at the heart of each case, but VR is intended to put players closer to the action than previous versions of the game.

For longtime Ace Attorney fans, this also marks a rather unexpected return for Dual Destinies. The fifth mainline entry originally debuted on Nintendo 3DS before later being included in the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, but this new version is taking the game in a considerably different direction instead of simply bringing the existing release to another platform.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR is currently planned for release in 2027 on Meta Quest and Meta VR Glasses. The game will support English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
