Some of Falcom’s earliest RPG history is making its way back to modern platforms, as Edia has announced Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes I & II for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The collection is scheduled to launch worldwide in 2027.

Rather than being new remakes, the collection will bring the PC Engine versions of both Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes and Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes II to current hardware. The first game originally arrived on the PC Engine in 1991 as the sixth entry in Falcom’s long-running Dragon Slayer series, while its sequel followed in 1992.

The PC Engine version of the first game is particularly notable for its additional voice acting in select scenes, giving this version of the classic RPG some differences from its original release. Edia describes the project as a revival of The Legend of Heroes, offering another opportunity to experience the games that helped establish the RPG lineage that would eventually lead to the much larger Legend of Heroes franchise.

The announcement also follows Edia’s 2025 licensing agreement with Falcom covering a number of PC Engine-era titles, including both Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes games as well as several Ys and The Legend of Xanadu releases.

Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes I & II will be released worldwide for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2027. More details about the collection have yet to be announced.
