KEMCO has revealed METRO QUESTER ZERO, a new hack-and-slash dungeon exploration RPG set in the same post-apocalyptic futuristic world created by manga artist Kazushi Hagiwara. The game is being developed by Thousand Games and is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
METRO QUESTER ZERO builds on the series with a focus on dungeon exploration, resource management, turn-based combat, and extensive equipment customization. Players will venture through a ruined world while attempting to uncover why civilization collapsed, where its strange creatures came from, and the identity of a mysterious blue-haired girl tied to the series’ larger mysteries.
Exploration has also been expanded, with players needing to manage fuel while defeating enemies and collecting resources. New bases can be secured along the way, while additional allies can be recruited as the game’s automapping system gradually reveals more of the world.
Combat uses a layered turn-based system in which both allies and enemies can act multiple times during a single turn. Turn order, speed, and aggro management will therefore play an important role in battles, while the game’s hack-and-slash focus allows players to collect weapons and equipment from enemies and hidden treasure caches. Gear can be upgraded and customized, with random special effects adding another layer to character builds.
The sequel also introduces new characters and the Skill Panel system, alongside time-sensitive quests and bounty targets. The world itself has been expanded into six interconnected layers, giving players more areas to explore as they uncover the secrets behind the ruined future.
KEMCO has also confirmed that METRO QUESTER ZERO will feature revamped skills and equipment, a larger map than its predecessor, and additional systems designed to give players more freedom when developing their characters.
METRO QUESTER ZERO is currently scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
