KOEI TECMO America and Team NINJA have revealed that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch worldwide on March 4, 2027, bringing the next chapter of the dark Three Kingdoms action RPG series to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC and Steam. The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one. Alongside the release date announcement, a new trailer has debuted with a closer look at the game’s story, characters and combat, while a limited-time Alpha Demo is now available.

Set in China in 208 AD following the events of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember begins after the protagonist’s village is destroyed by Cao Cao’s forces as they invade Jing Province. With demons now roaming across the war-torn land, the protagonist sets out for revenge while helping Liu Bei fight against Cao Cao’s army. The journey eventually leads to Jiangdong, where the protagonist reunites with their friend Pang Tong and works alongside Sun Quan to develop a plan to stop Cao Cao’s advance toward the Red Cliffs.

The sequel brings back Wo Long’s fast-paced combat while expanding its action with new abilities. Insight Skills allow players to evade incoming attacks, take advantage of the surrounding terrain and launch counterattacks, while also providing new ways to shift the momentum of battles when surrounded by enemies. The new mechanics are designed to make combat even more acrobatic, with players able to take to the skies and deliver devastating attacks from above.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember also expands the series with dynamic open fields based around famous conflicts from the Three Kingdoms era, including the Battle of Changban and the Battle of the Red Cliffs. Players can explore environments ranging from mountain fortresses to hidden valley strongholds while dealing with powerful enemies and demons. Morale will remain an important part of surviving these encounters, while enemy officers can be recruited to weaken opposing forces and give players additional strategic options on the battlefield.

Players can get an early taste of the sequel through the Alpha Demo, which is available from now until September 30, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox on PC and Steam. The demo includes an in-progress version of the character creation system and supports online multiplayer for up to three players. It also allows players to explore the open field of Changban and fight alongside Liu Bei’s forces against Cao Cao’s pursuing army, while encountering demons inspired by classic Chinese legends.

Completing the Alpha Demo will also reward players with the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet, which can be used in the full game. A survey will be available after completing the demo to allow players to provide feedback during development. The Alpha Demo will not be available on Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Cloud.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will be available in both standard and Digital Deluxe Editions. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Season Pass and Season Pass Bonus: Creator God Armor Set, along with a Digital Artbook, Digital Mini Soundtrack and Shitieshou Hat. Physical editions are also now available for pre-order.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC and Steam, with the game launching on March 4, 2027.
