Final Fantasy VII Revelation will expand significantly on Vincent Valentine’s backstory, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi.
During today’s FYNG Gamescom presentation, Hamaguchi took part in a Final Fantasy VII Revelation Deep Dive and teased that the upcoming game will explore parts of Vincent’s history that fans have never seen before.
While longtime Final Fantasy VII fans are already familiar with the broad strokes of Vincent’s past, Hamaguchi explained that Revelation will delve much deeper into the character and reveal new details about his life before the events of the game.
“People know about some of his background, but rest assured in Revelation we go even deeper into his backstory and there will be some new reveals about things he did in the past and what made him as a character that people have never seen before,” Hamaguchi said.
Vincent has remained one of the more mysterious members of the Final Fantasy VII cast since his introduction in the original game. His history is closely connected to Shinra, the Turks, and Lucrecia Crescent, with his past playing an important role in shaping the character seen throughout the series.
Hamaguchi’s comments suggest Final Fantasy VII Revelation will use that history as an opportunity to further develop Vincent rather than simply revisiting details longtime fans already know. The game appears poised to shed more light on his past while introducing previously unknown aspects of his character.
No further details have been revealed about the specific events or revelations surrounding Vincent’s backstory, so fans will have to wait for more information on what Final Fantasy VII Revelation has in store for him.
