CD Projekt Red has provided a closer look at what players can expect from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2, including the game’s performance targets and several features designed specifically around the new hardware.

The remastered version will target 720p resolution when played in handheld mode, while docked gameplay will aim for 1080p. Performance will range from 30 to 40 FPS in both configurations, with VRR helping to provide a smoother experience in handheld mode. When using a 120Hz-compatible television, the docked version should be able to remain closer to the upper end of that range.

Beyond the visual improvements, CD Projekt Red is making use of Switch 2’s different control options. Players will be able to use mouse controls alongside gyro and touchscreen functionality, while the Pro Controller and gyro options will offer additional customization for sensitivity, camera stabilization, and inverted controls. A dual-grip mode will also be supported.

Mod support is planned as well, although it won’t be completely unrestricted. CD Projekt Red explained that some mods will be unavailable because of Nintendo’s guidelines and technical limitations. Mods that require features such as 8K textures are among those that won’t be supported, but the developer expects the majority of mods to work on the Switch 2 version.

There is still some uncertainty surrounding a physical edition. When asked about a potential physical release, CD Projekt Red offered only a tease, saying that “the news will come when the time is right,” suggesting that an announcement could be made at a later date.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, 2026.
