Pokémon Friends released on Switch and mobile devices back in July, offering players sets of three random puzzles meant to both relaxing while also keeping your brain active. The game seemed like a simple enough spinoff of the series deriving from a partnership between Pokémon Co. and developer Wonderfy, but it turns out that Wonderfy may have dipped into its past a bit much for this release.
YouTuber CandyEvie discovered that Wonderfy built Pokémon Friends off the back of Think! Think!, a mobile puzzle game that it released back in 2016. This is not a case of Pokémon Friends being inspired by the studio’s earlier release, as it seems to be a one-to-one reskin of that game., with a few differences thrown in here and there.
You can check out CandyEvie’s comparison and analysis in their video essay below if you want to see just how similar the games are.
