Clouded Leopard Entertainment has announced that 13Z: The Zodiac Trials, a fast-paced 3D action roguelike from Singapore-based developer Mixed Realms, will launch worldwide for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on January 14, 2027.
In 13Z: The Zodiac Trials, players take control of warriors imbued with powerful animal spirits and battle their way through increasingly difficult Trials. Combat focuses on fast-paced action, devastating combos, unique abilities, and a progression system that allows players to grow stronger with every run.
The story takes place in a world where the ancient Zodiac gods once watched over the people of the Eastern Lands. As old traditions faded, so too did humanity’s faith in the gods, causing their divine power to diminish. With the balance of the world beginning to crumble, the Zodiac gods have revived the legendary Zodiac Trials in search of someone worthy of becoming the thirteenth Zodiac god.
Three warriors enter the Trials, each driven by their own motivations.
The Fox Spirit, known as the Swordsaint, is a gifted swordswoman born into a prestigious lineage of female warriors. Rather than follow the traditions of her family, she has chosen to pursue strength on her own terms. Bright, energetic, and constantly seeking new challenges, she sees the return of the Zodiac Trials as an opportunity to discover her true potential and find an answer to a question she has carried since childhood.
The Raven Spirit, known as the Death’s Herald, has a much darker history. After angering the Reaper by interfering with the souls of the dead, he was cursed to guide deceased souls to the underworld. Years spent in the realm of death have left him isolated and cold, but he continues to dream of escaping that existence and finding a life beneath the light. For him, the Zodiac Trials could be his only chance to leave the world of the dead behind.
The third challenger is the Panda Spirit, known as the Iron Wreath’d. A powerful martial artist with an enormous appetite and a gentle nature, Panda was raised in a peaceful land within the human realm. When animals begin disappearing and mysterious enemies start appearing throughout his homeland, he enters the Trials in search of answers and hopes to restore peace to his valley.
Each warrior offers a distinct combat style. The Fox Spirit attacks with lightning-fast sword strikes, while the Raven Spirit fights with feather blades. Panda, meanwhile, relies on overwhelming physical strength to shake the battlefield.
Players can develop their chosen warrior throughout each run by unlocking powerful bonus effects and collecting rewards such as scrolls and Golden Anvils. With a deep progression system and a variety of skills to experiment with, players can create different combinations and develop their own approach to combat as they work toward defeating the Zodiac and claiming the thirteenth seat.
The game can be played solo or cooperatively with two to four players. Solo players can take on the Trials alone and focus on mastering their chosen warrior, while co-op allows teams to fight together against more powerful enemies and bosses. Cooperative play also introduces situations that can test the bonds between players, adding another layer of strategy to the experience.
As the Trials become increasingly difficult, players will face a wide range of enemies and formidable bosses designed to challenge both newcomers and experienced action game players. The roguelike structure means each run provides another opportunity to improve, experiment with different abilities, and push further into the Trials.
The Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 versions published by Clouded Leopard Entertainment will feature both Japanese and English character voices. The voice cast will be revealed at a later date.
13Z: The Zodiac Trials is scheduled to launch worldwide on January 14, 2027.
